BALLYHOO 128 LUZERNE AVE WEST PITTSTON PA 570-814-1439 THANKS BILL SPACE !!! STEP BACK INTO YESTERDAY HERE
Bill Space stopped at a place called BALLYHOO on Luzerne Ave. in West Pittston and was totally knocked out by this shop selling ice cream and candy. When you walk in the door, it’s fifty years ago. The antique candy display case is loaded with things I haven’t seen in all those fifty years. Where do they even get them! Those watermelon slices, “Button” candy ( flavored dots of candy on a paper strip ), those little Mexican sombrero hats made out of jelly candy, and much, much more. World-class ice cream. Talk about Frusciello’s and Muchies ; this place is a must-see for all “people who grew up living in Exeter Borough.”
Setting the GPS for Antonio’s 193 Boston Ave or 801 Wyoming Ave West Pittston, PA, 18643 gets you the NEW LOCATION of Antonio’s. After being flooded out of their previous location in West Pittston in Sept 2011 they are back serving delicious food at a new location . Glad they are back I have missed them. GPS, walk or take mass transit just do yourself a favor at get to Antonio’s. Serving of course Pizza BUT so much more including Gourmet Pizza, Stromboli, Calzone,Pasta and Salads,( HUGE salads) Wings, Grinders, Wraps and Soups, Low Carb platters. Special orders No problem. Call Francesca 570-602-7272 or 7373
Bill Space rocks. He was born rocking the valley before anyone heard of the Beatles and bets are will rock on and on and if Heaven has a band will rock forever,. .. The music in him keeping on playing. It was this writers honor to hear Bill playing at the Gober’s Deco Lounge 1248 Wyoming Ave, Exeter, Pennsylvania ,the other night. Remembered him from the 80s with the Great Rock Scare heard him as a duo with Karl Metzger billed as the Great Rock Pair. Good Music that keeps on gigging.
Check out the sound clips on Bills website. He is available for all types of occasions and booking info is on his site.
The best bet is to come out and hear him play. The Pair is at Decos 1248 Wyoming Ave, Exeter, Pennsylvania again Sept 13, 2013. This writer birthday is the 16th,
(hint). Nothing better then a nite of good friends, good music and good food in Exeter
Nestled away from the busy downtown streets of Wilkes-Barre, Margarita Azul has been serving up authentic Mexican food since November 2011. The restaurant is located on Parrish St. in the former site of Tony Perugino’s restaurant.
On the outside, Margarita Azul looks like a typical house. If you are unsure of the location, you might drive right by it.
Upon entering the place feels like fiesta. It has a great ambiance with music playing and everyone laughing and seeming to have an enjoyable time; it offers a cozy and welcoming appearance. When you walk in, they have a bar with many assorted vodkas and tequilas on prominent display. There are several booths lining the bar and a side dining room.
They have an interesting menu that is far beyond what is offered at many other local eateries. For example, their 7 Mares soup consists of whole crab, shrimp, mussels, fish and clams. They also have Mojarra, a whole fish seasoned in different spices and fried, Cecina, salty beef served with chambray, jalapenos and two pieces of fried cheese along with classic Mexican dishes like tacos and burritos.
Their food was incredible, from the fresh chips and pico de gallo they served right through the main entree. You could tell that they take great care and pride in the preparation of their food. It may take a bit longer to receive, but, it is worth the wait. Their meals are extremely generous (trust me, you will be taking half of it home), servers are friendly and prices are very fair.
We had ordered a regular margarita and a bulldog margarita (a Corona beer placed inside the margarita) which were delicious. To eat, we ordered the chicken fajitas and the beef enchiladas with mole sauce. Both entrees come with a side of rice and beans. The meat is tender and of high quality. The fajitas come out sizzling and continue to sizzle for long after it has been delivered to your table. The enchiladas were outstanding, made with beef strips as opposed to ground beef that is common at many other Mexican restaurants.
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area when it comes to properly prepared food in a relaxed environment.
